torq-thrust D

I am looking at putting the "old school" torq-thrust Ds on my 95 camaro. I looked through Brents apperence guide and I couldn't find any painted ones on cars. So, here I am I would like to see what a 4th gen with either the grey painted or body color painted wheels looks like. Sadly enough I got to looking at them because I saw a mustang that looked badass. I think his might have been 17s but I am going to get 16s so I can fit my tires on them. What bolt pattern and backspacing do I need for 16x8.

Thanks for the help guys,
Matt

That sounds like it will be real cool be sure and shoot me some pics when you get it done. How much did those TTII set you back? I was in hopes the TTDs would be a little cheaper but it doesn't look like it.

Later,
Matt

well first of all ide get 17's, you said you like the 16's, even if you have to wait untill you get more money its worth the wait, they handle alot better, the wheels cost me 1200, i got 17.95's on the front and 17.11's on the back, ill send you a couple of pics when i get them done, the powdercoating only cost 45 bucks a wheel, not bad at all

Don't get 16's - they are just too small.

I know that you can fit your current tires on there and that 16" tires are cheaper and yadda yadda yadda - but 17/18's look so much better and well suited to our cars.

There is a member on here that has Torq-Thrust D's on an LS1 Camaro - if he doesn't chime in with a website or something then I will look for the pics and put them up on a temporary page or something - maybe just e-mail them to you if I can find them. But until then you may want to do a little searching - he posted pics of them in this section I believe.

Here's the quickest two I could find that are similar to what you are looking for...they are just powdercoated TTII's - the TT-D's look quite a bit different on a Camaro than these.

I think they just did the centers to make it look like the old torq thrust Ds. I love those wheels. Did you see the wheels on the Trans am in this months GM high tech? I love those wheels but how do you get paint to stick to polished aluminum? Is the powder coating on the Tom Henry wheels translucent or is it flat or what?

Thanks again,
Matt

Torque Thrusts II

I called Tom Henry about 3 weeks ago and asked him about the wheels on his website and told me he has them powercoated from a nearby place. He said he would sell me a set of 17 x 9 powercoated for 1500.00, and I remember the article on GM High Tech the guy said he wouldn't pay over 40,000 for a car, just because of the wheels he liked or somewhere in that price range to get those wheels...............doesn't hurt to call.
