Time to upgrade the headlights
I want to be the guy that pisses everybody off j/k Actually I want to see the road more, since I drive when it's dark all the time. I know I'm going to do the silicone trick, here's what I'm thinking of:
Throw in some 9005 silverstar bulbs. I know I gotta remove the little tab in there, but other than that, I should have a very white appearance (4000k) and it should be really freakin' bright, because they are 9005 (bright) bulbs. I'm thinking that I *may* not get flashed because the low lights are aimed lower than the high beams.
Why go with the 9005's instead of 85 or 100w 9006's? Well mainly because the 9005 is so much more efficient. At 60W it will outshine a 85w 9006 bulb. I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that the "tips" of the 9006 are covered whereas they are not covered on the 9005's. In any case the 9005's are cheaper than most aftermarket 85 & 100w bulbs, and it's a pretty well know fact that high wattage bulbs don't last too long
Also, running <10% higher wattage over stock (60w versus 55w) isn't going to melt wires, or even require a relay setup.
Anybody try this? I don't care if I get flashed every once in a while, but if it's going to be a cop magnet, then I don't want to deal with it.
If you got a better cheap solution, I'm all ears
