Thinking of swapping my SS hood with a Cowl hood, opinions?

I have a Navy Blue Metallic 99 SS, and while I love the SS hood, cowl hoods are really starting to grow on me. Should I get a cowl hood? Oh, and please post any pics you have of LS1 Camaro's with cowl hoods. Thanks!

I personally like the SS hoods, especially on the 98+ cars, it flows with the curves of the car better. But if you like cowl hoods, go for it.

Yeah, the SS hood fits the curves nicely, but some cowl hoods do too. I dont like the boxy looking ones, I want one that looks right.

I prefer the SS hoods to cowl induction style hoods. especially since with the position of the air inlet you aren't getting cooler air into the engine, just maybe a place for some of the hotter engine bay air to go. I'm not too sure if it would really help power that much.

Cowl induction hoods have the classic muscle car look to them plus everyone has an SS hood.
Since you have a real SS you can sell your hood for a much higher price than what a cowl induction hood would cost. It's a win/win.

the cowl hood doesnt look so good to me on 4th gens because they're curvy and the hood isnt. at least LT1's are slightly more boxy in front...for LS1's im gonna have to say no cowl

Re: Thinking of swapping my SS hood with a Cowl hood, opinions?

As much as I love the Harwood cowl hood (it's my favorite hood), I don't think I'd ever take the SS hood off an SS. If I had a Z28, I'd get the Harwood for sure, though.

Re: Thinking of swapping my SS hood with a Cowl hood, opinions?

you would loose the air inlet too unless you had it opened up yourself, i ordered my hood from there b-12202 not functional.. that was great to find out, and it was 2 seperate layers of fiberglass so i cant have it cut open and it still look good =/ .. the hood looks good on the car though that hood may be different but i figure if it says show series its all the same non-functional status..
