taillight question
I run blackouts on my taillights, and want to upgrade to led's for brighter rear lights. The manual calls for 2057's in the tail/stop/turn spot. The only comparable ones I can find are 1157's. They oughta work, shouldn't they? The bulbs sockets look the same...

I don't know if the 1157's will work in place, but from what I've heard the LEDs aren't any brighter than a filement based bulb for this application atleast, infact I think they're a little dimmer.
I haven't done any tests with them, but the LED ones I've seen are dimmer than a typical filimnent Based Bulb. Look into a PIAA based 2057 with a higher lumen output if you're looking for a brighter light, the higher the lumens the brighter the light.

An 1157 will cross reference - same base, etc.
You have a better chance of finding a higher output 1157 than a 2097 probably. Aside from just searching randomaly on the net (Google, Yahoo, eBay...) you may want to look at JC Whitney. Just don't get too crazy - you can melt wires and plastic both alike.
