Re: ratchet shifters

My buddy had one in his '96... Worked well, but in order to install one he had to butcher his center console.

Re: ratchet shifters

it looks like you might be able to install the shifter without cutting a bunch of stuff up. do you have any pics?

Re: ratchet shifters

This is a B&M Pro-Ratchet in a 1994 Firebird M6 console. Tranny is a manual valve body TH400. The boot has snaps on it, so I can remove it at the track and see the indicator..... I have a nasty habit of forgetting to put it back in 1st after the burnout.....

Re: ratchet shifters

i have the B&M hammer in my TA. Fits well in the M6 console but the shifter has been giving me alittle trouble. trans is a TCI 700-r wiht reverse manual valve bodies, also giving me trouble it is fun to bang through the gears with though

Re: ratchet shifters

looks factory in the m6 console, nice job. i was wanting to keep the auto console. it turned out well, i had to 3 drill holes in the trans tunnel, and slice up the center console a bit. looks nice and was evenable to install gear indactor. looks semi factory or as factory as it is going to get with that nasty boot it comes with.

you said your having problems with your trans and shifter?? if your shifter is slightly out of adjustment that will make the it like your trans is getting ready to go out. take off your pan and check the bais of the manual valve. the eazest way i found to adjust these shifters is to take off the leakage (completely off), loosen the adjusting nut and tighten them back down, reinstall leakage, and bob's your uncle.... pain in the ***, but your alterative is to make adjustment with the pan on and test drive after each, that only gets close, or take the pan off and watch the manual valve.

if your trans ends up taking a dive and end replacing it, contact dana @ pro-built. call him up and he can tailor a trans to your needs. he is abit pricey but well worth it and he is excellent on customer service.

Re: ratchet shifters

The main prob was that TCI sent me 3 custom transmissions that were all messed up. everything is all put together and working right for the first time sence summer.
