RAM AIR for 94 z28 with WS6 hood
I just bought a 94 z28 with a ram air hood that appears to be from a lt1
ws6/firehawk. I like it more than i thought I would, now interested in getting a ram air kit that will fit properly under the hood. I've looked around and found a few for the lt1 ws6 which I believe would be the right set up with this hood. Any insight, advice, or thoughts on brand or where to find one at a low price would be great.

Try and find out who made your hood. If its a GM or SLP (identical to GM) hood, the factory airbox, or the SLP airbox (identical to factory, less "Ram Air" and "Pontiac" logos) will work. I think SLP may have stopped making the LT1 Ram Air HO airbox. They have pretty much abandoned us LT1 owners. Suncoast also makes an airbox for the LT1, which I beleive will work with the GM/SLP hood, but it doesn't look to great.
If its not a GM/SLP hood, it may not work with the GM/SLP airbox.
Does the hood have open "nostrils"? Many aftermarket hood are not cut out. If the nostrils are open, does it have the baffles (for blocking water) behind the openings? Some aftermarket hoods don't have those.
Note also that the early "Firehawk" hoods are not exactly the same as the later Firehawk and WS6 hoods. The early hoods have a small raised section in front of the nostrils, while the later hoods are smooth from the leading edge to the inside of the openings.
And, this topic get better coverage in the "Appearance" section, so I'll move your post there.

I've heard that when it comes to an aftermarket SS hood and stock ram air boxes. Do you know why? My guess would be the size of the air box, but from the pictures I've seen the GM SS Hood and the Suncoast Creations (a company that makes both a hood and a ram air box) SS Hood seem to be identical.
