quality of aftermarket door mirrors?
I have a 1996 Z28 in the UK and need a matched pair of door mirrors (as the previous owner swapped a red for a black!)
All aftermarket door mirrors seem to be black - not a problem. But is there a known difference between the quality of the goods from the the various suppliers. for example:
ebay item 7960183968 from brockscamaro @$ 69.95
ebay item 7959754495 from am-autoparts @$ 35.95
ebay item 7958837189 from carpartswholesale @ $37.95
ebay item 7958582553 from 1A Auto Inc @ $59.95
I am assuming that genuine GM OEM mirrors are about $120
Cheers,
Graham

Re: quality of aftermarket door mirrors?
Just for comparison, prices for OEM mirrors from GMPartsdirect.com:
RH (passenger side) mirror assy p/n 10279357 $69.62
LH (driver side) mirror assy p/n 10279358 $75.78
Mirrors are described as "paint to match" in the GM parts manual.

Re: quality of aftermarket door mirrors?
Well I can't speak for camaro replacements, but I can on a couple other Chevy's in my garage.
As it turns out, my wife seems to enjoy driving a tad bit close to things in the car wash; ergo, the need for replacements.
Short of banning her from driving, I've had to replace mirrors on a Yukon and a 1/2 ton pickup. Both mirrors I bought from the Chevy dealership and both suck! For some reason, nothing seems to work as well as what came on the vehicle. The mirrors appear smaller and they really vibrate at highway speeds.
Anyway, I hope you have better luck with yours.
