Our headlights, need help for better lighting.

I had my buddy put in the "HID Blue Bulbs" and they suck so bad. Then I put in some HID Piaa's and they werent much better. As we all know our headlights arent the best, well they suck pretty bad to put it lightely. What things have others done. Any ideas besides dropping 3-4 hundy on a real HID kit post please here. What if I get the clear crystal housings, and make sure my HID Piaa bulbs are in 100% strait. Would that work better?

Can you provide more details on the 9006 and kit? Who makes it? How much and are there install hassles? Do you know if it is street legal?

Hey Don! Lighting upgrades are also talked about in the Appearance Section quite often. Since this topic can be really be in both forums, I'll COPY this thread to that forum as well so be sure to check both for any replies you might get

Im doin a full conversion (new housings, bulbs etc.). Ive got the relay kit that Bawls told you about, but Im gonna be using 100w H7's instead of 9006's. What you need for the rely kit is a bunch of male and female wire connectors, a 20A inline fuse, and a 30A 4-prong relay switch. I got 2 pre-fab relay kits from pepboys for 12.99 a pop (since Im doin all 4 headlights). AFAIK, the cheapest harness upgrade online that I know of is like 30 plus shipping, so if you decide to do that, I would check out pep boys first. Someone also posted a wiring diagram on here not too long ago either (I think it might have been bawls) but i dont remember what topic it was. The Rally kit that I bought had a diagram on the back anyways. Im gonna probably install the full kit with housings and bulbs this week, so Ill try to get some pics up.

I upgraded my fog lights as well, and it helped a TON!!!
I just put in some Eurolite Plasma bulbs in my low beams though...it helped some, but more or less just gave me a whiter light. Anyways, the setup I have is giving me a better output than factory byfar...not as good as Bawls is though...

See the Fog Light Upgrade in sig...There's some pics at the bottom of that page too.

The only real way to improve lighting is to do a conversion ( Piaa or Catz fog/driving lightsfor headlights (not exactly legal though) or do a hella conversion (closest to being legal, if not legal)(see the other tread in the appereance sec)or to get some good driving lights. Putting better bulbs in the stock housing will improve some (piaa, real hid, etc), but the main problem is still the housing themselves, they just suck. I heard that most aftermarket housing suck also, but I've never tryed them. Do a search on autopticks (sp?) for more info on the housings

I bough crystal clear covers from RK Sport and went with Sylvania HID Bulbs($125 inc. fog lights). I also had the lights professionally aimed (any garage SHOULD be able to do this). It makes a huge difference

Try doing the headlight mod where you make both the outer lights and inner lights come on, as well as the foglights, I'm sure this can be done, but where on the internet it explains it, I don't know.

DON'T GET THE AUTOOPTIKS HOUSINGS!
I bought them not knowing that all the housings sold like them are the same, and they are horrible. You either have to shave around the bracket on you headlights, or let them crack from fitting too tight. Plus a paper clip is all that holds the bulb in. Siliconing in a bulb to the factory housings is the way to go if that satisfies you.

Try doing the Hella FF75 conversion if you want to do an upgrade that looks close to factory. The PIAA's and Catz's are nice, but they are also the most ex$pen$ive and they don't look factory (if that matters to you.)

The thing that SpecForceZ28 was talking about is just the fog light on with high beams mod...you can check that out here.

I got Eurolite 993, 9006, 9005 bulbs from autotoys.com
The 993s i put in my fog lights and they were a bit brighter than stock, but one has already gone out.
I sealed my lows and highs in the stock housing- huge improvement
BUT Both my low beam bulbs went out w/in 8 months of purchase; I've since replaced them w/ Walmart's "super-blue" whatever.
The Highs are still kickin and are meefin bright, so bulb replacement worked for me.
However, because Fog light bulbs are such a pita to change, i'm probably gonna do the Pilot fog light converstion that is on Brent's site and hope for the best w/ that.
Hope that helps,
