Don't know about Ohio - but know in some states that will be very illegal to use on the road - if it's for display and parking lot shows, it certainly sets you apart from others! Good luck.

Thanks!

As far as cops go, I think in Ohio it is legal as long as it isn't flashing. I passed a sheriff tonight & he didn't seem to give a **** one way or another...luckily I wasn't speeding, which always helps too!

Looks good!! I had a blue light in my scoop a long time ago before I got into a debate with highway patrol about what's legal and what's not. I did my research before I even did it and technically I was right but he was the one with the badge so off came the lights I fought the law and the law won

Here is the write-up I used as a guide. Ominous Glow

Towards the end of the write-up there is a link to Ozium for the led's. The first set they sent me were broken....about 3 of the 9.5 inches didn't work. They replaced them within 3 days (great customer service!). The best advice I can give you if you want to do it, is to use a wire coat hanger & make a small loop at the end to run the wires. If you don't loop the end, it will get hung up as you try & snake it through the air duct. Also, to remove the hood scoop grill, just gently push it inwards. Good luck. It was real easy. The only thing I don't like, is it kind of makes a mess under the hood. I need to get some wire loom to hide the wires.

Thanks it looks great, I read your posting on the other site, and have a suggestion. If you run the wire into the car you can put the led's on a toggle switch and hide the wiring more.
Also you can quickly switch off when you see 5-O if its illegal where you are,
and it would solve problem of having to have lights on at same time

Re: Ominous glow mod on my 02 SOM SS

You know, I did think about that....but kinda pussed out. As it sits, I can remove the wires in a matter of minutes (And I did pick up some wire loom last night) & since it is wired into the dimmer, I can use that to turn them off if need be. I passed my second cop last night, with no second looks or issues....so, I think I am ok.

Took care of the wire mess....

And sat at a stop light.....on the other side was a cop. He got a good hard look at my leds & waved to me as I drove past.
