If your car is more than a few years old, they usually can't paint just the hood. They usually have to blend it with the other paint. So that means they have to paint more than just the hood. As far as price, I'm sure you could pay anywhere from $100-$800, depending on the quality of job that you want.

A good paint shope should be able to take into account the fade of the paint and get the color close to the actual color that is on the car.

A Nissan dealership painted the door, fender, and front nose of my car and dialed it in perfectly (96, 100k miles, kept outside about 1/2 the time).

My car is 10 years old and the paint is in OK condition. They charged me 700 to prep, paint, and allign the hood. But my hood was used and had alot of chips and scratches. They did an AMAZING job at color matching the whole hood, so i didnt get it blended. I would say your looking at about 300-800 depending on a number of things(are they gonna install it, how much prep etc........)

You know what I did, my car was do for some fresh paint so I ordered my hood when I was ready to paint my car. I got a quote and then I told them I had a hood I wanted put on, since I got a quote for the whole car, the only change for the hood was to put it on and align it..an extra $30. Had I kept my car the same color, the total would have been $900..BUT that was for a 4 year warranty, clear coat, metalic based paint AND .....SS Stripes that also carried all of the above as well. Could not beat it!!

So you may want to go that route. Pay a little more but get the whole thing done.

I was quoted $250 to prep and $500 to paint my new fiberglass hood. It's got some waves, etc in it, and would need attention before painting.
