As in the HID kits with the ballasts? If so, where did you get them, and how much were they? I gotta do something, my car is like driving with the light of a match.

$50 shipped & they got here in three days. They come with everything, even extension cords for the factory wires, which allows you to mount the ballasts just about anywhere. I just got back from a "country" drive & they are great!! Much brighter than OEM & even better than the headlights on my 2005 Civic (which has pretty good lighting). It took a while to change them out, but it is totally worth it & pretty easy. Good luck bro!!
EDIT: when I say it took a while, I was referring to tearing the old bulbs apart, getting the new ones in, & letting the silicone cure overnight. It is a really easy process if you follow the above instructions, just time consuming.

I've done the bulb replacement before, I just have been wanting to get some sort of lights that work better than the factory ones. I'll give these a shot. Hell, for $50, I'll take my chances. Thanks!

I personally think the silverstars suck - especially in the rain. I have tried many different bulbs over the years, PIAAs, cheapy ebay bulbs, and many others. The best I have found right now is the Philips visionplus +50. If you want better light output (nightdriving in the rain), make sure you get bulbs with clear glass only. I use these bulbs in my wagon and my wifes van and am real happy with them. I will also being buying a set to do my Zs lights this spring. Bought them from suvlights.com.

I just noticed they have +80 bulbs though that would be better in 9006

Just for reference, does anybody happen to know the replacement bulb type that is inside the fog lights? I assume the same process could be done on the fogs, but I'm not sure of the bulb type.

Been doing this trick for about 5 years now but I use a Silverstar hi-beam bulb in place of the low-beam (can't remem which # is which right now.) Take a dremel tool and remove the little plastic tab inside by the metal prongs and the connector goes right in. Solves the brightness issue!

great write up and it looks great man... you think i could use HID, they are 9006 low beam? i bought them a couple of weeks after i bought my camaro and i didnt know these headlamps on the camaros were sealed. now i cant send them back because they would allow me to and i want to put them to use.

I would assume that if they fit in the hole and don't require special wiring, then I guess they'd work. I'm not a lighting expert by any means.

The HID actually worked in my Camaro and they look great. cant wait till this snow is gone so i can take her out and driver her with the HIDs, i would add a picture of it but i don't know how to do so.
