Halfway done removing my antenna

I am removing the antenna from my third gen but I cut off the plastic and nut where it mounts, but now there is the long stem rattling around. How do I remove it, take off the fender?

The stem should be on the inside of the car mounted to the inside of the fender. Easily accessible through the rear plastic panel

When shaving the antenna, what is available to keep a good radio signal? I may end up shaving mine when it goes to the shop.

Powered hidden antenna

Like this but cheaper

http://www.autoloc.com/detail.lasso?itemid=hab

You can get them for like half the price of that if you search around

I ended up using the factory antenna. Drilled out the rivets on the mounting base and put it under the carpetalong where the hatch cover.

I can't really run the factory antenna, I have the power antenna unit - TA. I may end up going with the hidden antenna kit though. I have to have the rear pass side quarter blended anyway, so I might as well go ahead and shave the antenna while I'm at it.
