Guage Pod blending

Guage Pod blending
I don't really like the way guage pods are held onto the A pillar. I was thinking of maybe taking off the mounting tabs and filling the holes, then getting some kind of plastic sealant (some sort of caulk) to fill in the gaps and then spraying the pillar. Has anyone done anything of this sort, and what did you use/how did you do it?

I grafted an AutoMeter 2-gauge pod to my stock A-pillar molding.
Attached the pod to the pillar molding with a 2-part epoxy. Then used auto body "Bondo" filler to feather the long edges into the molding, and to fill the ends and radius them slightly. I didn't really like the look of trying to extend and bevel/taper the ends into the molding.
After cutting the appropriate holes in the stock pillar molding for the gauges and wiring, I sprayed the whole thing with Eastwood Company "Graphite" vinyl paint. A very good match for the dark grey interior in my 94 Formula.
Could only find a couple online pics of the process:
Applying filler to sides
Holes cut for gauge access
Finished, drivers side view
Passenger side view

Thanks Injuneer that's exactly what I was thinking about doing, in fact I just came back from home depot with some 90 secod 2 part epoxy Can't you buy interior paint from the dealership that would match, or is the paint you used the only option? Thanks

Eastwood Company "Graphite" vinyl paint.
They have a few shades of grey available, and I tried one other shade before settling on the "Graphite". And since every F-Body seems to be a different shade of grey, you would have to experiment.
I have had interior paint mixed by an auto paint shop, but that was for metal parts, using the interior color code from the build plate. I would think that any good auto body paint store would have a paint matching computer, and could check your A-pillar molding to get the right match.
Not sure if the dealer sells vinyl paint, since most of the interior parts are made from color tinted plastic, not by painting.
