Fenders wont align

I hada little crack on the bottom of both of my fenders so i took them off to epoxy the backs so they wouldnt move and therefore hide the cracks. I tried hard to get the fenders to align with no luck. Can anyone give me any tips? What is the general process. I even played with the hood itself with no luck. Whats the general process to get it flush?

I'm not sure of the process but know a friend of mine spent nearly all day trying to align an aftermarket hood and couldn't do it. Finally gave up and took it to a body shop and they had it done and looking perfect in less than an hour. Good luck! But, you might just end up needing to take it to a body shop

Re: Fenders wont align

I just ran into this problem when I started rebuilding my front clip. Like brent says, a good alighn can take hours if not all day. The best thing to do is to line the fender up at the doorjamb first, then secure the length of it second. There are 3 bolts there, which I'm sure your aware of by now.

First, bolt the fender to the rocker panel, alighn it, and then push up on the fender and secure the mid-bolt. (It's alot easier if you remove the fender well, and turn the wheel hard left). After this is done, and the gap looks factory, fuss with the last bolt near the mirror. If there are any tweaks left to do, the it's usually on the bottom. Consider yourself lucky, you don't have to shim anything, or bugger out any holes.

Soldier on, you'll get there. Or a body shop will.

Re: Fenders wont align

I got it lookin real good this time. I ended up drilling new holes or slitting the old ones and used bigger washers and ended up getting it perfect. Whoa, the difference.

Btw, i had someone help me this time to hold the stuff in place while i tightened and it seemed to work good.
