I really want to make a custom center console for my 95 z. I have looked at several threads from a couple different people on here. What I would like to know is
1) what materials would I need for fab (Bondo?, wood?, card board..etc.)
2)would anyone be willing to post a step by step with photos.

what kind of accessories would you like to have in your console?

Any help would be appreciated.

You would probably want to start with cardboard to get the shape and design you want then transfer that to wood, then fiberglass and bondo to finish you can google custom center consoles to get ideas and go from there I don't know if you've seen my console but I originally planned on making one from scratch and ended up modifying the original

yeah I saw the one that you did...Man that looks really good! looks like you used a98-02 console and have a 95 style dash etc. ( like mine) what I want to do is avoid using fiberglass? was thinking mdf then cover it in carbon fiber.I was hoping you would see this and comment.

Did you have any trouble with the newer console fitting the shiftwe or will the newer console fit right in?

Thanks im glad to be able to help. If you didn't want to use fiberglass, mdf would work fine if you're pretty good with woodworking. Were you planning on using a carbon fiber vinyl, di-noc or the real stuff? I guess your options with mdf would be making the whole console out of mdf then covering it or making a frame out of mdf then wrapping with cf. when I put the 98-02 console in, there was something underneath it I had to trim I can't remember but it didnt bolt right up. It does fit but it teeters front to back on I believe the ash tray or the bolt mounting holes I can check tomorrow I have a spare I can look under.

right on. yeah I was planning to use a combination of mdf and Bondi, then wrapping it in carbon fiber (the real stuff, I have about two yards). however I like the idea of using an existing console and some fab. 98-02 console is expensive too, like 250. bucks.or something.

Well I do have an extra 98-02 console I was gonna make a copy of mine and sell it but if u want it pm me an offer otherwise I'm pretty sure it'll just be sitting in my garage.
