Can trim be removed?

I own a som camaro. I just noticed that the paint on the trim along the side is fading and theirs light round circles appearing... Can the trim be removed and just left out? Is the paint under clear coated? I know the trim is just double taped on....

yes it can be removed. my 96 Z doesn't have it (last owner took it off). you should be able to just grab and pull on a hot day or use a hair dryer on it and pull slowly. getting the goo off will be a pain, but just get a bunch of goo gone and wax afterwards.

the car will look much better without it and it's not like the composite doors are able to get door dings anyway.

you can take a piece of sting good size not to big and use it like dental floss behind the emblem, go up n down while pulling further back the emblem. or get a hair dryer and shoot it on hott for a bit .

Yes, it comes right off especially on warm days. Once you pull them off you'll have some glue residue which comes right off with rubbing alcohol. I also have a som camaro and i had the same issue as you.
