Aftermarket Antenna

I bought a new antenna from summit which said it included adapters to make it fit most vehicles. It can be seen here:

Antenna

Of course it didnt fit. I really like this antenna and was wondering if I could drill out the threads in the antenna and re-tap the threads. Would the antenna still work properly? This makes me kind of nervous because if I screw up I am out $20. Or is there any way to change the bolt that holds the antenna to the car?

Or you guys could inform me of where to buy a nice one that actually fits.

Thanks.

I think parts store carry adaptors. Worth a look. At worse, you're out $20.

$20 is a lot to me, I am a poor college student. I guess I will check a couple parts stores and see what I can find.

Re:

I dont why but every antenna I bought for my 94 z28 camaro also did not fit. So I just drilled it out and re-tap the threads and it works perfect. I even cut my antenna down to 3" high and still have had no problems with it. So yeah you will be fine if you choose to drill out that hole and re-tap the threads. Just make sure you take time and drill out the correct size and you will be fine. Also theres a member on the ls1tech site goes by the name of bit viper - He makes and sell's these custom shorty antennas that are used on the honda s2000 for a cheap price. They look awesome too - Mike

I bought one from Billet Specialties years ago for my S10 Xtreme and swapped it over to the SS when I got that. Works fine with no adapters.

www.ecklers.com. Buy a shortie for a '94-'04 Vette Hardtop. I've had one on my '96 and '99, fits perfectly.

Thats where I got my 8" antenna. It fits great without an adapter. They used to be a supporting vendor here too.
