If I can't find file fit piston rings...

If I can't find file fit rings for certain appications could I get rings that were +.005 or +.010 inch over sized for the blocks new finished bore size and use those rings as I would file fits?

I have never filed a set of rings but I THINK that would also add ring tension. Probably not something you wanted to do.
