Question 5.7" vs. 6" rods for turbo 383

I'm about ready to buy a forged rotating assembly for my turbo 383 LT1, and I'm still a little unsure about some things...

When using pistons with a large dish (26cc or 31cc), do you want 5.7" rods to keep the piston thicker? (thicker top ring land)
Or do these pistons only work with 5.7" rods?

Also Ive heard alot of different answers, but what compression ratios would 26cc and 31cc dish pistons give in a 383 with stock heads and head gasket thickness etc.?

Can anybody point me in a good place to get such a rotating assembly for a reasonable price?

Use the compression ratio calculator linked from the site's automotive calculation link, or one of the many others available on the 'net. Don't guess, or take someone else's guess.

Dont rule out 5.85" rods.

I did a 383ci LT1 block w/ D1 ProCharger - 97ss MM6 trans. Callies 3.75"/ 6" H-beam eagle/ -28cc JE dish 4.030 dia./ 54cc AFR head/ Fel-Pro 0.038" 1074 head gasket. About 9.5:1 static compression. I see about 15psi @ 6500 rpm. Also I run a Spearco air-air IC (24x14x3) and Meth/H2O injection. I noticed more crankcase pressure with the long rod. I eventually went to an external GZMS VP103 Vac pump system. HTH B.

I'd go with a 5.75 rod, since you'd like to keep the pistons as thick as possible. the only down side to that is the piston's going to weigh more. So as long as your not going to spin the thing to the moon you won't have any worries...there are benefits and downfalls to either choice.
