Thanks for the compliments, Willie! As you mentioned, the use of the aluminum cover, or diff girdle, is important for the survival of our 10 bolt axles under heavy load - the diff "girdle" cover gives extra support to the main bearing caps. I bought the TPIS girdle, which comes with studs and nuts to replace the four main bearing bolts - the studs thread all the way to the bottom of the threaded holes for maximum strength & the nuts are torqued to spec. The girdle has two threaded studs which are adjusted to contact the main bearing caps, at their mid point, with a slight amount of pressure, after the cover bolts are torqued to spec - this gives the caps support in the center and prevents deformation under high load conditions - like when launching with DOT slicks for 1.6 sec 60' times. For about $100, it's good insurance. Can't remember which one you bought, Willie, but I know it's not from TPIS - so there are others available now - unlike back in the mid 90's.

So the second choice is go with the $99 Torsen and $240 Moser's for a total of ~$350. In my opinion, the extra $50 is worth the cost. FYI, the Moser axles work with both drum and disc rears.

Willie
This is the route I chose, based almost 100% on Willie's opinion. I researched it, talked to people including Willie, and became convinced that this was the best option for me right now. So far I'm quite happy, although I haven't got enough traction for anything to break yet. The Moser axles are a VERY well made, very high quality axle. I'm very impressed with them.

well i guess theres no need for this reply anymore. i just found out the differential i got was the right one.i didnt know if it was for the 3:23 and up ratio.but for anyone that whats to know how you can tell.stick a 3:08 and down ratio diff. and a 3:23 and up ratio diff. next to each other and the 3:08 and down were the ring sits to the diff. will be lower than the diff. that accepts the 3:23 and up ratio. i hope this makes sense to you guys.
