why is my lg4 doing this
aright my car starts and goes to fast idle at a little below 2000rpm then i can kick it down to around 1300rpm then it will finally kick down to a little bit above 500, thats when its cold
so i drive around and it will idle dead on around 600 (chiltons says 575 for auto, thats in drive right?)
but...... after the car is warmed up for some reason when i go to put it in park it jumps to a faster idle speed like 750, 800 and its odd becasue it will do little slow incrreases in rpm and bump to around 1000 the longer i leave it on sometimes, if i try and kick it down it wont (prob becasue its warmed up) it just goes back to around 1000
i was thinking the suspects could be the idle load compensator, mix controll solenoid being funny, or a small vacuum leak
any fixes or ideas?

I vote for vacuum leak. Pop off air cleaner and check with a can of carb cleaner with small squirts in suspected areas. You can also use unlit propane torch. Most likely cause is a cracked vacuum hose, especially at a turn.

yep some of the hoses are hard as a rock and cracking, i replaced a couple and it seemed to get a little better
question: why does it take a minuit or two to start climbing, (it doesnt go up right away)
isnt carb cleaner corosive to the rubber lines?

I agree with angel71rs. A 20+ year old car will have its problems, and vacuum leaks are very common. Even if you can't detect a leak with the old carb cleaner method, its a good idea to go through the entire system and replace all vacuum hoses and hard lines. It made a big difference with mine.
You can eliminate a choke problem by removing the aircleaner lid with the car running and exhibiting the symptoms. Inspect the choke. Once warm, it should be fully open. I've seen them stick before.
