Question Torque Converter???

I've a 92' Z28 and since the day I bought it I've had a problem with around 35 mph the car will shake up to 49-50 mph, but it's not all the time. Just when it wants to act up. I'm thinking it's the torque converter. Along with another problem, I've had it redlining too soon. I was against a brand new Charger R/T when it just stuck at red line at 100 mph. If you can possibly think of any answer to this, please tell me.

Re: Torque Converter???

When was the last time the transmission was serviced. If your car is stock or near stock and the charger had a hemi, that car will destroy your car every single time. It's not worth putting your car thru that type of abuse, unless you really think that you have a chance. I'll almost bet you wouldn't stand a chance againt the new 6 cyl. cars.

It's stock and I know, it was just for fun. I honestly couldn't tell you. I know the trans is only 58K miles old. I've had it up to 153 before but not nothing has changed mechanically since then except for my fuel pump dying on me.

Re: Torque Converter???

Is that 58k miles original, or 58k miles on a rebuilt trans.

Re: Torque Converter???

It's a brand new trans if I'm not mistaken. The motor was replaced 68K ago, and I totally agree. I'm hoping to have it running smoothly so I can take it up to AMS for Friday Night Drag.

Re: Torque Converter???

Check the trans fluid... it should be clear and not dirty. And it shouldn't smell burnt.

Re: Torque Converter???

My dad checked it out. It was burnt but it was my plug wires. I was running on 5 cylinders. 3 were just about burnt clean in half.
