Thinking about an 82 for 2400

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...480497380&rd=1
I talked to the guy, and he'd take 2,400 for it
Is this a good deal for what it is?
I'm not sure if the older 3rd gens are worth more or less or what
I'm looking for a 5 speed car with t-tops, v8 (gonna do a 383 stroker eventually)....this ones a 4 speed but its got the 350 in it...and its got t-tops
the fact that its an 82 is good cause i dont have to worry about emmissions :-)
What do you all think? worth looking into for that price or should i pass?

was the 350 introduced in the '86 or '87 IROCs? other than that it looks in pretty good condition, but the only way to tell for sure is to see the car in person. i'd personally have a few extra dollars laying around in case it needs some work once you buy it, you can never tell if its really road/inspection worthy.

thats nearly IDENTICAL to the one that was for sale in hopkinton last fall. it was $4500 at the time...i guess its a different car...but how many red 82's with 350's and 4 speeds do you see???

upon viewing the lower pics...i see its not the same car. that one looks a bit crappy in the engine bay, and interior. for 2500 i'd probably do it and fix it up. i wouldn't expect it to be too fast though.

For $2400 it may be worth it. You would need to verify the 350 in person first. If it doesn't have the 350 that he claims, walk away. Also, take note of the smashed up console and under the dash...

The paint looks like a Maaco "make it look good cuz I'm unloading it' special. An 82 from Mass MUST have some rust. Wonder what that repaint might be covering up?

Looks like someone also didn't know how to remove the center caps on the tires correctly.

Hmm....well, after talking with the 'rents, they want me to get a job first before go out buying a car.....so i probably wont be buying this one i guess :-/
But it may be a good thing...i dunno....
In MA its after 20 years it doesnt need to pass emmissions, correct?
If thats the case, i'd be thrilled with a t-top v8 manual transmission camaro from 82 to 85, cause i probably wouldnt be doing much to it until next year really....
I guess i'm just excited at every t-top 5 speed (or 4 speed in this case) v8 camaro i see ,cause they dont seem to be that common (for sale at least)
If i can buy it in a month or two i might, but i dunno
Thanks for the replys guys....

The transmission blows, I have one. They are very very very week.

If you powershift it, you will frag it in no time.

It has been repainted.

Check the casting number on the back of the block to make sure than it is truly a 350.
