Re: Shifting High?

umm a few things i notice. First off if your car is original it does not have a 350. no RS came with a 350. They also never put a TBI unit on a 350 that was in anything but the trucks. So if your car is original then you have a TBI 305. And the reason your car seems to over rev is that the 700R4 that is in the F-bodys has a servo in it that will not allow it to shift into overdrive at more then 2/3s throttle. it will only allow it to go to 3rd. My guess is this is why you belive it is overrevving. This is normal. The way to fix it is to get a servo from a Corvette 700R4 or what they have in summit from B&M that is called a Downshift Kit that part number is BMM-70237 this will allow you to shift to 4th ad more then 2/3s throttle.

Re: Shifting High?

My bad, typo in the sig.

But its going way over the redline and theres no rev limiter. It was going up almost to 7, it was over 6500.

Re: Shifting High?

go to a chevy dealership the part number is 8673948 it is called b4c police package upgrade the part is like 20 dollars, you will have the take down your valvebody and remove the old valve and install the new 3/4 upshift valve then you will have full throttle upshifts.

I don't see any way a stock TBI 305 is hitting 6400 in 3rd gear.

Have your trans checked out, it probably needs a rebuild.

Re: Shifting High?

Yea the trannt fluid is brown. It went all the way up to 6900 rpms... yuk.. i left off.. it shifted to 3rd.. ifloor it again it down shifted back to 3rd. I just got the car. its over 100,000 miles so the fact that i bought it froma dealer/collision place isnt going to help me cause over 100,000 they not liable for selling me a bad car... right?

Re: Shifting High?

When did you buy it? If you really don't want it, look into local laws about returning recently purchased vehicles. I've heard anything from you have 24 hours to 30 days and they have to take it back. But that could all just be wishful thinking.

Take it to a trustworthy tranny shop and see what they say.

Re: Shifting High?

I bought it 2 weeks ago. The doors were smashed in and I payed the place I bought it from the fix it. I meen, look at my cardomain page, I LOVE the car. I just want my tranny working, and I dont have money to fix it, and the guy said runs and drives 100%. I drove it around and it seemed fine, nothing seemed wrong. But then when I got it home and opened it up, it dosnt shift out of 2nd at full throtle.

Re: Shifting High?

There's a problem similar to this...i think it's called flare up. Might want to check into it, although i think that with flare up, after you let off for a sec it'll shift into 3rd throughout WOT.
