Replacing injectors on a TPI

How difficult is it to replace the injectors? Anyone know a link with instructions with photos?

Re: Replacing injectors on a TPI

pull the upper plenum/runners off, pull the rails off, then the injectors are attached to the rails, then there is little retaining clips on the injectors...pop them off and the injectors just slide right out...the hard part is getting those damn TPI bolts out...they are usually seized in there pretty good, and the angle makes it real hard...its not to bad of a project tho

Do you need new gaskets when the runners are replaced?

I would recommend new gaskets. When I replaced my injectors I reused the old gasket, but then again I had just changed them 4 months earlier. If you didn't change the gaskets yourself or it has been a few years, its probably a good idea to do it. The injector O-rings should be changed too.

Don't the new injectors come with new o-rings?
This is the injectors, I ordered: http://www.jegs.com/cgi-bin/ncommerc...t?prrfnbr=2262
If the photo is correct, the o-rings are there.

Actually, the injector retainers don't pop off, you turn them to unlock the injector. You will see 2 tabs use a screwdriver and turn them either clockwise or counterclockwise (opposite of how they are on the rail), then pull the injectors out, they may be quite hard to yank out so turn them and pull. sometimes the o-ring stays in the injector hole so remove it and discard.

You are probably right. When I did mine, I got used injectors so I had to change the rings. I didn't realize that new injectors came with rings preinstalled.

Re: Replacing injectors on a TPI

I plan on replacing the fuel injectors this weekend, to get the fuel rail up, does the throttle body also have to be removed? Just looking at it, it appears to be in the way.

Re: Replacing injectors on a TPI

you can leave the TB attached to the plenum, plenum needs to be removed.
runners need to be loosened, or at least one side has to come off.
