New Window Motors Help

Ok I took the old window motor out and the rivets holding them. I heard crash bang and slap. There is a curly spring on one of the arms and I dont know if there should be tension on it when im remounting that one arm in one of the old rivet holes. Am I supposed to pull the part where the motor mounts around till the spring has some tension and keep pulling it under tension then put the bolts in? Or do i just catch the bolts the way it sits? Any easy ways to go about this? I looked at some posts already but werent much help. Thanks

oh man i dove into my window motor myself and a big mistake i wound up in your situation,, i broke my hand at work and just took it to triumph auto glass they reassemabled it for 60 bucks. that spring needs vice grips, and the whole regulator has to come out, i prefered to read the sports illstrated while they did it, scary experience never want to do it again

Haha....man...just what I wanted to hear. Ill give it another try tomorrow now that I know the spring has to be compressed. I can rebuild an engine sucessfully but I cant get a little itty bitty window motor in. Haha....Thanks for the reply
