New Carb...having issues

I just swapped the old quadrajunk out for a new shiny 670 Holley Street avenger in my 82 Z28. Engine is standard reman gm engine with cam, performer rpm intake, headers. Hooked it all up and it would not start and flooded out. Check it over...hooked electric choke positive to tach side of distributor, checked and it has 11.5 volts with key on and nothing with key off. Vacuum lines are all hooked up (only one not now is the one for the cruise that doesn't work anyway). Unhooked positive from choke and it fired right up...and climbed to 2k and WONT come down from there. Question 1...can i use the tach side or should I just run it into the damn fuse box? Question 2...How do i get the idle to drop? Checking for vacuum leaks now, but doing it sparingly to avoid angering my neighbors!!

Figured it out...no you cannot hook it to the tach side...hooked it to another source under the hood...now it runs like a champ.
