V6/454 swap, need info.

Hi folks

Im just getting started on my first track only vehicle. My question is simple, is it feisable to use a V6 chassis in this setup. Im using a 454 (mild cam, 4bbl, intake, heads, headers) I want to use a v6 chassis because they are cheaper to pick up.

Second, will the V8 nose cone fit where the v6 front used to sit? Or is it just better to buy a V8 car, pull the 305 and be done with it? I'll post more specifics if need be.

Other than spring rate or sway bar size (if equiped), there's no difference in the chassis between a V6 or a V8 car.

I use V6 springs in my car. It all has to do with the spring rate. I've stripped so much weight off my car, the front end is still roughly the same weight of a stock car.

What do you mean by "nose"? Most of the body parts between third gens are all interchangable. Differences are styling between Camaros and Firebirds but other than that pieces will all work from 82 to 92. If you wanted to pull the nose off an RS and install a nose from a Z28 then yes, you can do it.

By nose I just mean the bumper cover. I plan to use V8 springs to compensate for the added heft of the 454 (should I use a V6 chassis). Is the RS front just a lip spoiler, or is it a solid peice?

Some front spoilers have holes along the bottom, some are solid. Same as the nose piece. Even the front insert around where the fog lights go is different on different models. It all depends on what style you like.

They're all cosmetic changes. You can make your car look like whatever style you want. Mine's an IROC-Z and I like the Z28 look. If I could find some 1992 ground effects, I'd use them since I like that style even better.

There is no difference in chassis. You could find an 82-83 4 cylinder car and drop any engine into it.
