lots of smoke

lots of smoke
We just did a heads, cam and intake on my friends car. The problem is it pours white smoke out the exhaust now. It doesn't smell like antifreeze or oil, just smells like exhaust. The car has not been tuned yet but it has less power than before the work was done. Any idea what could be wrong?

i know you said it doesnt smell like antifreeze, but dont rule that out yet, your head gasket may not be sealing completely somewhere, are the heads new or used (if used maybee they were not machined flat) other then that i dont know what it could be, what did you use for intake manifold gaskets cork rubber or a silicone form a gasket? (maybee used too much??) i dunno if that really matters but im just tossijng around different things, im sure someone else will be able to give you a better lead on whats going on in that engine

91 Camaro L98
Speed density
22# LT1 injectors
Hypertech chip
Not sure of the fuel pressure yet, my gauge doesn't fit the Stealth Ram fitting. I think they are preset at 40#.
stock bottom end, Dart Iron Eagle heads, HSR, XE 224/230 cam.
I did find a plug wire that was off and it seems to be somewhat better, but still not right.

Hey aklim, it's my car Max was posting about... After is was finally on all 8, the smoke seemed to be gone, but that doesn't really make sense. Like Max said, those plugs were covored in soot after ~30 minutes of running. Tonight, the exhaust smelled clean as brand new and it didn't smoke, but something still isn't right.... Granted, I'm still running off the Hypertech chip, but could the tuning or a plug wire be that much of a factor that it would pump out smoke the way it did???

Well, for all you HSR people out there, I have the part from Grainger that will solve your test port problem. I had to buy 6 of them and sold 2 and used one. With that you will be able to figure out what your pressure is.
Tuning would certainly be a factor. When I used 30# injectors, it just about flooded the engine and while driving, it would kick out black smoke. After 20 mins of driving, the plugs were shot.
If you want to check the plug wires, take a inductive timing light and clamp on each wire and see what rpm it gets while idling. It should be about the same. If one is way less, there is your problem. However, it it is a plug wire, only one plug should be affected and not all the plugs.
