Long hard day Racing & more problems with my car.

Well, Last week ( early last week) we got my car half way running right. So we took her dragracing today. Well my brother in law brought a set of his old DRs (they told him he couldnt use them any longer on his car) & I used those today. Basically I had to relearn how to race because I was launching from idle before hand or I would spin at the line.

ok I did four time passes & ran a 14.97(a 2.048 60ft), 14.86 (with a 1.997 60 ft time ),14.87 (2.002 60ft( launched so hard it knocked me in the back seat almost peed my pants )) & a 14.97(with a 2.036 60 ft)" LONG BREAK & muggy as heck out."

Ok after another LONG break & it getting worse on the muggy part First round Elems started I dialed a 14.85 then started to think I needed to dial up, but ran out of time before I could do that. Ended up running a 14.94

So we packed up & left I happen to look down (the way the steering wheel is I cant really see the check engine light) & saw the CEL on. So I radioed my husband & let him know. We get home & my O2 Sensor is failing (thank god for the Auto x ray)Hopefully this is the END of most of my problems with my car this year. & Next year my husband is getting me a set of DRs for my car for my very own. ( no more borrowing bros used ones one chitty rims)

Oh well next race is the 30th. Then we race the 20th,21st & 27th (my wedding anni )

Amen.

What elevation is your track? Even for high humidity, times seem a little slow. What are you aiming for? 13's? BTW--Stock cam?

Elevation is only ................ heck at this track we are at sea level. No not looking at 13s YET Cam & Heads are yet to be done. My husband is looking at putting better gears in my car (stock are 3:27s) & a shift kit in it next.

If she has 327's in the rear then she has a 9 bolt and if going for a gear swap then be ready to have a hole burnt thru the checkbook.

My husband has already researched it. The gears are going to cost us about $200 & hes having friends help us put them in as far as we can.

377's can be had pretty reasonable but you'll want to invest in a shim kit and a better than stock crush sleeve.

Re: Long hard day Racing & more problems with my car.

youll be faster 0-60 with the 3.77's but youll be slower through the traps with 3.77's....

G92 L98's with the 3.23's run low 14's all day...3.77's will be to much gear for a TPI motor...no if and or buts about it...3.42's would be the MAX id run for an auto and 3.73's for a 5 speed...

Re: Long hard day Racing & more problems with my car.

Ok the engine is not going to be no where near stock by the time We are done. Right now I am running a HSR on stock heads & cam that will soon change if I get the job I am after.
Heads will be ported & polished & I am getting a hot cam.
A shift kit is also being installed in the car.
I am only looking to get this car down to the 13s that way I an compete against my husband in his 95 z. but also leave it totally streetable that way I can drive it back & forth to work.
