L98 Swap Questions
I was debating on the LT1 a while ago and after talking to a few people over there, decided to come back to the L98.
So the background on what the engine is going in..The truck is an '86 Jeep Comanche with 38.5/15 tires. Right now I'm running 4.10's with no issues with a worn out engine. It currently has a TBI engine with a carb on it and want to go fuel injected to avoid any issues with off camber situations.
So the questions...I am looking at a TPI setup for the TBI engine. From what I've read, the TBI is great for under 4500rpms due to the swirl port heads and the TPI is good under about 5000rpms due to the long runners. I don't plan on going over 4k rpms at highest. I can get a TPI setup with harness and computer from an '90 for $150 and it'll be maybe $200-$250 to rebuild my current engine, reason I kinda want to keep it. That's vs paying $550 for a used TPI motor, wiring and ecu. My question is will this combo actually work or is it going to hinder more than help. I'm not looking at spending big bucks on this engine since it's more a budget build.
Any input and help is appreciated.
