well i got an auto '85 z-28. i know that the reverse switch wires are the purple and yellow thicker gauge wires. the tranny & motor is coming from another '85 Z-28. all i need to know is am i going to have any problems with changing over the tranny to a 5 spd. i have a complete printed guide to the swap from http://www.thirdgenresource.com/aut...nual_conversion . does anyone have anything i need to know this swap that the link doesnt tell about? please someone help me out. im 17 and pretty much doing this on my own.

the thicker purple and yellow wires are your park/nutural saftey wires. not the reverse wires.

you need to extend them to the clutch pedal... where the clutch pedal meets the firewall, there should be a switch. this switch gets pressed when the clutch is to the floor. connect the two wires to this switch.. you must have the clutch in to start the car.

next two wires are your backup lights.
next to where the large wires were on the connector...

early thirdgens(i believe pre 90) have blue and blue with dark blue striped wires. later ones have green and blue wires.
connect these wires to the plug on the trans...

the last two wires on the connector are for the ECM... you want to leave them seperated.. not touching each other.. they are what tell the ECM that its in park or nutural... but we want it to think its in gear all the time because its a manual.

on a side note, this board sucks for thirdgen tech info.
for more then you ever wanted to read on thirdgens, goto www.thirdgen.org/techbb2 do a search on there and you'll get alot of info.
