Thumbs up HSR and cam Dyno

Just got back from MN where we did a dyno run in spite of a snapped throttle cable. My new cam specs are 230/236 - 110 lobe sep, 108 intake centerline (2 deg. advanced). Lift with 1.6/1.5 rockers is .622 / .570". This is with AFR 190 heads and a 383 SB. Maybe this winter I will take it apart and port the heads and intakes. Max Torque is 447.6 and Max HP is 411.6. We did back to back runs with and without the SLP cold air unit and found that the unit cost me about 20 HP. Will have to fab a better intake unit for the future.

BTW, we also tuned the chip till we got those numbers so it wasn't just a dyno run to get the graphs. This was done at HiTech Motorsport in Ramsey, MN.

Good numbers. Those sound like the lobes I have on my cam. 230-236 .622-.624 with 1.6 rockers, but mine is on a 114 lsa, 110 ic. Changing cams to a 110 lsa and hope to make some more power. All I got with the above cam was 345 rwhp, but everything was not perfect.

That sounds pretty much exactly what id expect. 450 hp at the engine, 411 at the wheels. You should be able to smoke zome z06's with that power.

I don't think so. You generally get about 80% of the crank at the wheels when you have an A4. Probably about 84% with a stick. Something I read in an article about the parasitic losses thru a tranny.

I will try smoke them when I have repaired the car. It still has a broke throttle cable.

sorry i didnt really do any math just took a stab at it. With those numbers its probably closer to around 500 horsepower definitly impressive. I guess thats probably getting close to the limits of what you can do with a N/A 383 sbc and still have it streetable. Again very nice

I can't do anything about the piston or the rings but i can certainly change my intake from the filter to the TB. Taking off my SLP system made an instant 20HP last night so we know where the restriction is. Also I will take off the heads this winter and convert them to an AFR 195 via porting and also have the HSR ported and make a few more ponies. When my throttle cable gets done, it will be time to go on the prowl for a few vettes.

No. I have had this TB since I added intakes onto the car so I never had a 52 to do a comparison with.

Nice numbers especially with untouched AFR 190s and HSR...I run a 230/236 but on a 112 LSA and less lift on a 350. Otherwise we have the same setups, right down to the TB! Your numbers sound promising as I'm hoping to put down at least 360 rwhp.

I especially like the torque numbers, that should dispell the myth about lack of torque with the HSR.

You should be doing easy 11s.
