help with general maintenance for my 83 Z CFI
Hi, I am new to message boards I hope someone is kind enough to help me. I need to ask what others recommend I have done on my 83 Z28 CFI (20k orig. miles). I am taking it to a new place on Friday for maintenance and I want to have all the fluids a checked and or changed as well as any other thing that should be inspected. I am basically asking for a list of things that should be taken care of by this shop. My car is in perfect original condition and I am trying to keep it that way and really want it perfect for cruise time here in NE Ohio. I am not a mechanic nor do I pretend to be... I really hope someone here can give me some advice. The car is very special to me and I want to keep it 100%. I really appreciate your help.

20,000 miles from a 83?!!! Hell of a find to you! Congrats! As long as everything works, be very religious about your fluid changes. Im sure everything is going to be fine if you take it to a decent mechanic. ALOT of people forget this, but im gonng make sure you dont Have your mechanic regrease any fittings on the underside (Steering assembly).
Cars that old may have some leakage from gaskets that are just old and dried up, that may be expected. Wouldnt be surprised if some of them leak.
Lastly, any rubber trim is likely to be dried up (or not, idk how the previous owner took car of it), however its always good practice to go over your rubbers (door trim, window trim, etc) with some armorall to keep it somewhat elastic and plyable. Also it makes it look new again!
Good find on the car, and welcome to the forum!
