Help Adjusting TV Cable

I know the procedure, and have done it many times on my Iroc, but I'm having some trouble on a 92 Z-28.

I adjusted it yesterday, took it for a test drive and the shifts are allot harder, and seem to be more delayed. I tried readjusting it today, by pressing in the button and pulling the slider as far back as I can, but the slider seems to go to far in. And when I put it to full throttle it clicks a few times, but barely comes out. What do you guys think? Here some pictures.

This picture is of the slider pushed back all the way.

This picture shows the slider after wide open throttle

This picture shows the slider, when I press in the button. The slider moves forward on its own. This is also about the same spot where it was be for I made any adjustments at all.

UPDATE:

I pulled the slider out a bit (away from the firewall) and the shifts aren't as hard. Now I thought I read somewhere that its not good to have the slider pushed towards the firewall to much; right? So should I be ok having the slider out alittle bit?

I did mine by pushing the "D" looking button and pushing the cv cable all the way towards the firewall.

Release the button. Now with your hand force the throttle body wide open throttle. It will take quite a bit of force. Make sure you go WOT. Nothing will break. Then you should be set.

some of them you need to hold in on the button and go to wide open then let go of the button with it wide open even the type you need to hold open they will still ratchet so if it doesn't work one way try the other worse case you do it again until you get it close

Also it's better to go to WOT using the gas pedal not your hand at the TB. In fact you should have someone else step on the gas while you watch the TB to make sure it goes to WOT.

I'll have to try holding in the button while going WOT.

I think the TPI Nitrous Plate may have something to do with it though. Thoughts? And also theres a plate/adapter between the throttle cable bracket and plenum. Not sure why thats there.

the adapter plate is to bring the cables to same position to make up for the throttle body that is more forward with nitro plate

Your top 2 photos look the same to me. The 3rd photo is too far forwards.

You can't set them by looks alone. You need to follow the instructions that 1987IROC350 posted below. I set mine exactly the same way. Notice how the nipple looks more aligned?

If you're wondering why I have 2 throttle brackets in the picture, it's because the SuperRam has a special "more angled" bracket to fit the SuperRam. The stock bracket is the one in the picture that's not hooked up. (It won't work with a SuperRam. It binds up and won't adjust properly)

Set the WOT by hand, not with the gas pedal. It should be perfect after doing it this way.

You want the TV cable to be set exactly perfect. It doesn't just control when and how hard the shift is. It also controls line pressure. Too high or too low and your transmission will be cooked in short order.

Here's another picture. I was simply comparing the 2 bracket angles in this picture. But it does show how the nipple will come out looking in the end after proper adjustment.
