Arrow Going to an LS series motor next year, maybe early 2013 before it's complete.

I just wanted to start a thread here about my decision to finally go over to the dark-side, aka, the LS side. It won't be an LS1 but it's going to be the nearly equivalent LS based 5.3 L33 all aluminum block/heads motor with the LS6 heads, etc. Or it maybe a 5.3 or a 6.0 LQ4, LQ9 motor. I'm not too sure on which one I want right now, but I found a complete turnkey L33 5.3 V8 earlier today for $700. It has 100k miles on it and it comes from a mid-2000's SUV/Truck IIRC.

I am also keeping my 700r4 because one, it's simpler to keep. Two, it's possible to keep it with a LS motor. Three, it's a built up transmission, so it's got very little miles on it and I'm not buying a newer transmission with so much into this one. Four, I don't want an electronic transmission but that's really not that important to me anyway.

Either way, this thread will be for my future build up and prepping towards doing the LS swap into my IROC-Z. Right now I'm going to be doing a I/C/H install and swap within the next month or so. Then I'll get it tuned to get max power from it all and enjoy that combo while I save up parts for my LS swap. Either way, it'll be a fun route to go and alot of time to take on doing it. I'm in no rush and I'll be sure to have everything already to go on. It'll really help financially to buy the complete motor like I found this a.m. but I do think I could find a L33 for about $500 if I look hard enough with less miles too. So this is what I'm thinking about.

Chime in LS boy's, give me food for thought.

Worst thread ever!! Buy parts.. then start thread.

Why would you plan an engine swap before doing a major overhaul of your current engine? You are DELAYING the good part... the swap.

Start buying your parts now... we all "found" good deals but did we buy them? Go buy it NOW and post pics. Then buy your swap parts(mounts>??) Flip the stock headers forward and do a turbo kit like everyone else and their mom. Easy 600-1000hp from the sounds of it..

What the HELL is a mechanics Lover??

Goodluck! Sounds awesome. We can TTT the thread until 2013 for you.

TTT - just for Denny

Now, where's the pictures of that LS3 engine? You buy it yet? Gawd, you've had 4 1/2 months!
Oh, and +1 on the truck engine. Great daily driver motors with heaps of torque and velvet smooth idle. Just put 'er in !

That means you've got twenty-four cylinders now. Maybe you could hook two up; One on each end & make it all wheel drive Denny... I mean, I've seen stranger things and heard of stranger stuff... Anyone remember the Honda CRXx2 twin-engine project from Car & Driver, circa 1985?

You could call it "vortech under glass" - but now I'm just being silly. Back to the top for this thread.
