the engine for the most power and speed?
I have a v-8 305 stock carborator motor in my 1988 i-rock. I was wondering which setup will give me the most power? I thought about either keeping what i have, but going with Edelbrock
Carborator with cold air induction. Or keep what i have and go with a Intake Manifold and either twin turbos or cold air induction. Or yanking it completely and dropping in an ls1 out of a corvette, with a few modifications of course. But this is a little bit more pricier. any suggetions?

get a crate engine like the H.O. or the ZZ4 family and use all of the accesories and manifolds from stock stuff, they are restrictive but it will be very cheap for the money to the amount of power increase youl see even witht the stock stuff and it will hav ethe potential lurking underneath. then as you get money start peeling away things like headers or intake, and the increase that you will see will be alot more fun with each mod you make
or you could do that twin turbo thing because that is pretty kick-butt and would be more unique i think
it really depends on your budget and emission requirements

unless the motor has very little miles or your ready to change the internals i don't think TT is in your future . a ZZ4 engine is a good power maker, but are you looking for killer power or just a little more juice behind the petal. getting a stroker kit and having a shop bore out the motor will give you a little more and a performance carb would help also. the way to get the most power out of a 305 is really to just get a 350

I'd go with the ZZ4 or a moderate N20 shot. I haven't really messed with turbos very much, might be kind of hard to get/make a set of turbo headers for a thirdgen given the amount of space. ZZ4 would probably be the easier of the two.

thanks guys. my budget... well lol, I just started workin last week ever since college ended... so nothing yet. I'm just looking ahead. And i'm a daily driver, tats why i'm fearing the turbos, I hear theyre no good for everyday driving, only racing intervals. I allso hear theyre loud as hell. thanx all for the suggestions i gonna go look at that ZZ4. hehe

Was looking through ebay and happened to come across these:

probably about how much a good set of twin turbo headers would run, or you could always mutilate a cheap set of headers .

Unless you got money to burn and a whole lot of technical knowledge / fabrication skills, forget the twin turbos.
Get yourself a good 350 shortblock, a used set of aluminum cylinder heads off the classifieds section of this board, then put in an Edelbrock intake, a new cam, a new carb, a new distributor, a Hooker cat-back with Edelbrock TES headers and be done with it.
Add yourself a Neal 2700 RPM lockup-style torque converter, and you'll be one of the quickest third-gen cars in town for about $2000 in mods.
If you have any bucks left, buy some BMR lower control arms. You'll need them to keep the axle from hopping up & down.

Nitrous. Cheap and easy. Zero fabrication required. And if you buddy's Vette still manges pulls you, just increase the shot as required.
BTW, you don't have to have any kind of fabrication skill to make a turbo car, just lots of money.
