I remember a while back someone on TGO was trying to figure this out and I wonder if anyone has succeeded. I have the 98+ brakes on my rear and want to know if there is anyway to do the same with the front.

Yes, they figured it out and everyone is doing it. I am doing mine in a few weeks. Got my 01 Setup sitting in the garage.

Yeah I know and it seems that it wasn't figured out............

If the 2 piece to 1 piece rotor/hub issue has been solved I'd like to know. My friend is parting out a 99 WS6 and I have dibs on the brakes.

You just switch to a 4th gen rear. That is how I did it. If you had drum brakes before you'll need a 4th gen master cylinder. The 4th gen rear is a little wider too so it helps with wheel/tire selection. When I get my 12 bolt I'm getting one set to 4th gen specs.

i have the ls1 upgrade on the front of my 87 iroc
i went with http://www.bigbrakeupgrade.com
i was very successful with my upgrade
i purchased the brackets and paid him to modify my spindles since i did not trust myself at the time

i took my old rotors and turned them into my new hubs
i shaved off the friction surface of the rotor
and then i had to grind down the remaining hub maybe an extra 1/4 inch
for some reason my hubs used a larger knurl wheel stud
so i had difficulty getting extended ones, which were needed

i got my rotors aftermarket, i got morse ceramic pads
i got new calipers from autozone but they did not come with the mounting bracket or guide pins so i went to a junkyard for those

i used the brake hoses from my thirdgen but the banjo bolts from the calipers

i had an issue as to which caliper goes to which side
if i put them on with the bleeder screw straight up
the banjo bolt would hit my control arms
(probably because they're aftermarket)
and this limited my turning radius

if i put them the other way, with the bleeder screw down, i had a larger turning radius, but still limited
didnt hurt when bleeding
and didnt notice the limitation when driving

i would prefer a better steering stop, because right now the steering stop is the caliper, but the caliper looks to be holding up ok

all in all i spent about $400 on this upgrade
aside from the hubs, and the spindles, the upgrade was really really easy

So even with that kit you ran into those issues? Damn I wish there was a better way.

One of the guys on the thread (Ed Miller, s/n ebmiller88) sell a kit, which can be completely customized part for part, so I won't guess at a price for what you need. However I can say I got the whole setup from him (inc rotors) and everything was top notch, with excellent support (he always responds back to emails within a day or less).

my problem with the hubs was unique
and at http://www.bigbrakeupgrade.com he will sell you the hubs with the wheel studs so u dont have a problem

my problem with the caliper brackets was again because i got my calipers seperately, if u buy the whole kit from him you wont have that problem

and my problem with the steering limitation is not noticable when driving around corners

last i checked the whole kit from him is like $600
and i took these shortcuts to save a couple hundred

I got the 01 brakes for free, traded some parts that were given to me for them.
The caliper brackets, modding the rotors and spindles and shipping back to me is going to cost $165.
The breakdown is this,
modding rotors and buying the caliper brackets, $110 shipped
$55 shipped to cut and drill the spindles.
My friend that I got the 01 brakes from paid $300 or so for them on ebay I believe.

I got my complete setup from Ed Miller (a fantastic guy to deal with!!) almost a year and a half ago. My setup was 100% complete, including spindle, hub, bracket (all assembled and coated) + red C5 calippers, drilled/slotted rotors and Earl's braided lines. This totaled $1050 at the time, but that may very well have changed since then!

The only issues I had was that they didn't clear the curved spokes on my TT2's so I had to use spacers and also slightly modify the calippers. And the fact that this conversion moves your wheels out (about 3/8"s if I remember correctly?) and then the spacers on top of that - moved my wheels out so much that the car started tracking a lot! I ran 275/40x17 at the time.
I have since switched to the Boze wheels, running 245's on 18x8"s up front - so now it is all good!!

Ah... I see you went with the Corvette calipers, cool Those wouldn't have fit under my GTA wheels, the F-body ones barely do! I think there's about 1/8" clearance to the inside edge of the rim and Ed had to supply spacers so the back side of the lace spokes wouldn't get rubbed. I don't think mine pushed the wheels out much, if at all...
