1987 camaroz28 5.0 Headers back

I was looking to install the header back of my exhaust. I would like a direct fit and if could get some suggestions of parts and help getting together a check list to make sure once I start I do not have to run to the store for something I forget. Like I said I would like direct fit and plan on all performance parts. If you could please help with this project I would be so glad. The clutch and engine have be rebuild and only have about 1800 on it.

How long have you owned a 3rd gen cars (Camaro/Firebird)???? If you are a first time owner, beware. NOTHING on these cars are a DIRECT FIT.

Re: 1987 camaroz28 5.0 Headers back

if you have to deal with emissions and such the hooker 2055 headers are great as they are an ez install and use no gaskets at the collector. depending on what exhaust you have from after the cat back depends if the 2055 Y pipe is a slip fit.

im using the edelbrock cat back system, magnaflow hi flow 3" cat and the 2055 headers. the edelbrock system was on the car when i bought it and i added the headers later when we swapped motors and all i had to do was to cut thte flange off of the intermidiate pipe and the cat slipped over the intermidiate pipe.

another option is the hedman 68476. they too have a no gasket style at the collector but the Y pipe is smaller, 2 3/4 or something. i am using the 2055's right now but when i do my motor swap soon i'll install the hedmans but i'll have to build a Y pipe vs using the smaller hedman Y.
