Ultimate Bolt-On Project or Racers Wet Dream

Ultimate Bolt-On Project or Racers Wet Dream

Oops, wrong dream. This dream is to build a NASCAR style circle track car from a body in white and do it in an environmentally positive way. The dream is to go racing with E85, cats and be socially responsible AND beat the traditional style race cars that are HD polluters. On top of that, we do it on a reasonable budget with off the shelf parts so that this class of racing is available to most anyone who can turn a wrench along with a couple of buddies in his garage.

Narrative

Times change and so will racing. An All-Star group has been assembled by Robert Fisher and Circle Track magazine to build and track a 2010 Camaro using renewable fuels. It goes well beyond fuels and to the heart of what racing is all about -- cars on the track that are like the cars we drive on the street. If all goes well, they will put on track a car that captures the essence of NASCAR Back-in-the-Day with superior technology, superior performance that runs clean while using renewable fuels.

This is great stuff. Carburetors vs Fuel Injection, E85 vs Full Fossil Fuel, Real Cars on the Track vs Skins on a Chassis that has NOTHING to do with a Car in a Showroom... Why does Toyota spend money to run a Camry in NASCAR when they sell front wheel drive sedans? Ooops, that is a different article.

We could not be more excited to be a partner in this project. Pedders will supply the suspension and it will be as advanced as the engine technology in Project G.R.E.E.N.

Wink

With the Gen 5 Camaro you can get your hands under her hood, open up the tight rear and pack her full, then climb inside and ride her hard, or take it smooth and slow!

All without any complaints!

GREEN Racing is a subject Herb Fishel knows something about. http://www.circletrack.com/ultimater...ing/index.html Pedders is excited to be part of this Circle Track magazine project. This link will take you to the initial dyno work using E85 and a GM crate engine. http://www.facebook.com/#!/album.php...00000158585997

For thos who don't know Herb, here is a bit of background.

Herb Fishel, executive director of GM Racing, will retire Sept. 1, 2003 leaving a legacy in racing that spans 40 years. He will remain on special assignment to GM's service and parts operations until his retirement. One of Fishel's final duties with GM Racing was to drive the Chevrolet SSR official pace vehicle to begin the 87th running of the Indianapolis 500 May 25. Doug Duchardt, group manager for GM Racing's oval-track group, assumed Fishel's responsibilities June 1. Pat Suhy Jr., an engineer at GM Powertrain, will replace Duchardt.

Fishel, 61, worked with the late Zora Arkus-Duntov and Vince Piggins, who initiated GM's rebirth into racing and performance parts with the Corvette and small-block Chevy V-8 engine in the 1950s. Fishel has influenced GM's performance programs throughout the second half of the 20th century. On Oct. 8, 1991, all of GM's racing programs were combined under his supervision.

"The name Herb Fishel has been synonymous with championship racing programs at GM for decades," said John Middlebrook, GM vice president of marketing and advertising. "Herb is leaving a legacy of success that is remarkable and inspiring: nine consecutive Winston Cup Manufacturers titles and 21 of 24 driver titles through last year. In 2001, Herb's team did something no one else had done in nearly 30 years: win the Daytona 500, Indy 500, and Le Mans 24-hour race."
