Tire Pressure Sensor Reset – DIY
Tire Pressure Sensor Reset (Do It Yourself)
Here is a quick guide to reset/recalibrate your sensors and save $50-$100!
Recently I upgraded my 2011 Camaro 2SS/RS from 20" stock wheels to the 21" factory upgrade option. I bought them used and they included the wheels, tires, lugs and pressure sensors. After a few miles of driving on the new setup, I got the following warning on the dash:
Once I got home I did a little research on how to reset/recalibrate the sensors myself and I was pleased to learn you could do this without any special tools. Here is how I was able to recalibrate my sensors:
This took me about 5 minutes and it worked perfectly. Hopefully it will work for you as well, saving you the $50-$100 that a dealership would have charged you to reset the sensors.
* With a manual transmission the emergency brake has to be on
* The turn signal of the tire expecting to be learned will be illuminated

* I did this with the stock Chevy sensors on a 2011 Camaro 2SS/RS, but I believe this will work with most sensors on 2010-2011 Camaros. The 2012 Camaro requires a tool to reset the sensors. The tool can be found here:

- Press the "Menu" button on your turn signal lever
- Change the display on the dash until tou see the tire pressure information
- Press the "Set" button on the end of your turn signal lever to start the recalibration. It ask you if you would like to start the recalibration, select "Yes"
- The horn will sound twice informing you the process has started
- Start with the driver front tire and release 3-4 PSI, the horn will sound once
- Go to passenger front tire, release 3-4 PSI, the horn will sound once
- Go to the passenger rear tire, release 3-4 PSI, the horn will sound once
- Go to the drive rear tire, release 3-4 PSI, the horn will sound once, and then twice to signal sync is complete
- Check the dash to confirm the "Service Tire Monitor System" message has cleared
- Refill the tires to the proper pressure
This took me about 5 minutes and it worked perfectly. Hopefully it will work for you as well, saving you the $50-$100 that a dealership would have charged you to reset the sensors.

Re: Tire Pressure Sensor Reset – DIY
saved myself a trip to the dealerhsip. this worked great. only thing i can add is after after step 3 it ask you if youd like to start the recalibration and you select yes. then after doing the final wheel sensor it honks once to say its synced then it honks twice to tell you its complete.

Now if we can just find out if it works on a 2012.

Re: Tire Pressure Sensor Reset – DIY
I posted a link to a video in the first post of this thread to show the process from start to finish. It only took 2:55 and I was talking for almost a minute! Very easy!

1. Even though the screen does not have the text to tell you to clear the TPMS, press and hold the Set/Clear button and it will come up asking you if you want to reprogram then it will initiate the process.
2. Be sure to have all the valve caps removed and get a key or something ready to run to each tire. I was able to get it with 5 seconds at each tire.
I'm really hoping that this isn't fixed in later revisions of the ECM, as I think some of us can easily do it ourselves instead of having the dealer do it.
It has been 3 days of driving on the 2012 after the manual reset and still working
