Spare tire question.

The spare tire for the 2011 LT1 is a Maxxis T155/70R18. Does anybody know if a more readily available tire will fit the 18" spare wheel rim?

Re: Spare tire question.

Not that I know of, it might be a special size contracted by Chevrolet specifically for the Camaro. I don't know of too many compact spares ion the 18" size.

To order an extra tire, call Maxxis at 1-800-4MAXXIS, extension 6734. Ask to reorder your size for a 2010 Camaro. I am told that it will run you about $100 shipped, depending on where you live.

Other part numbers:
  • 18" Compact Spare Wheel for 2010 Camaro - #92230888
  • Container - #92200810
  • Strap - #25892541
  • Extension - #25892542
  • Jack kit - #92236233

You could always just get the inflator kit that the SS models come with. I am unsure of the part number (I took a look at mine, but it didn't have a number visible, nor did the styrofoam "cage" that fits in the spare tire well), but I found one here:

But if you want to get a really decent alternative for not much cash, grab the Slime Smart Spair:

The reviews are decent, and I keep one in every vehicle I own.

I dunno...I have heard the Slime stuff works pretty good. I suppose it depends on the severity. Bear in mind, the factory stuff, the spare tire, and the Slime stuff is all meant to be temporary until you can get the tire repaired or replaced.
