2011 RS 20 Inch Tires
Is it true that the 2011 V6 RS will come with 20 inch all season tires? If summer tires only, how bad do summer tires get at 25 degrees? Does the tire stiffen up and fall apart?

Might want to ask that in the 2010-2011 Camaro Wheels and Tires Forum.

You dont want to even attempt summer only tires in sub freezing temperatues and even a dusting of snow.
That said, I am on record from a long time ago saying how INSANE it is that you cant get a (at least at the time, maybe it has changed?) a Camaro SS from the factory with anything except summer only tires.

I'm guessing that GM's research tells them a vast majority of Camaro SS buyers are purchasing theirs as a second vehicle. Still, I agree that it's a head scratcher why they wouldn't even offer the option of all season tires. Handling would suffer but I wonder how many people would even notice.

Does anyone even make a 275/40ZR20 all season tire? I don't think they do and that could be one of the reasons why they are not offered. They could do 245/45ZR20 all around, but that would hurt performance.

Actually you can get Michelin Primacy MXV4 in 245/45-20, they are listed as Grand Touring All-Season, you can also get Pirelli Scorpion snow tires in that size.

The performance package on my CTS came with summer only Potenzas. In the dry, and over 50 degrees, they were simply amazing - they stuck like racing tires. In the rain, not so much, you'd have to really be paying attention to your inputs. I got caught in an early season ice storm - OMG, talk about pucker factor.
I replaced them with Potenza's all season version and yes, you do give up some grip at 8/10ths, but beyond that, you can't really tell. Plus you can drive in rain great and even through some light snow.

Point is, even if you wanted to put SUV tires on the Camaro, you can't get a matched set of all-seasons with the stock SS wheel size.

Yep... I live in Texas, but if I was up north and crazy enough to drive a Camaro out in the snow / salt I would get a set of crappy wheels with snow or all-season tires.

That is what I did on my GTO. I used the stock 17" wheels that came with the car for snow tires and then I bought a nice set of 18" wheels with summer tires that I use for the spring, summer, and most of the fall. It is nice and easy to just switch the wheels as the seasons change. I did this starting in 2005 and I am still on the original snow tires and original summer tires although it may be their last season.
