Weird shift

I have a new Camaro LS-3 6 speed manual. The problem is on occasion when going from 1st to 2nd it wants to go towards 4th and not second it just wont go to 2nd. Has anyone had this problem. I havent taken it in yet for service but I also dont want them to say they cant find anything wrong. Any feedback?

CAGS, aka "Skip Shift".

Check your owner's manual. Also search this site for more info, or just reply with any questions you still have!

According to the owners manual, it will kick in if certain circumstances are met, being 25-34 km/h, 21% or less on the throttle, for example. This is in the interest of 'fuel economy' and 'forcing the transmission into any other gear could damage it'. It has been on the 4th gen and the 5th gen that I'm aware of.

that skip shift is what keeps our gas guzzler tax away from us. it can be fixed with a skip shift eliminator.

And that's why nobody really complains about it. It's one of those situations.

It is kind of ironic that when it came out it was to reduce emissions but it makes people floor it so they can shift into second

Re: Weird shift

Safely crawl under your car and on one side of the transmission you should see the solenoid lockout unit, which might look sorta like a small starter if I remember right. You should see the harness that powers it connected to it. Unhook that harness, and then hook the SSE up to it, connecting them all together. The skip shift eliminator gets "spliced" into that harness. It basically interrupts the signal telling the solenoid to engage and lock out the gear when you are shifting. Once you get the unit and get under your car, you will see the whole picture. It is a 5-minute installation.
