I hope there is an easy fix, my buddy has me starting to slide to the Shelby GT500 side..... His arguments are solid, close to the same weight, close to the same fuel mileage and the prices on used GT500's will be close to new Camaros next year. With the GT500 you get a live rear axle, hand assembled motor and a supercharger....

I REALLY hope the Camaro lives up to the hype!!! I want to buy an SS six speed with limited options...add headers, CAI, tune and drag radials and have some fun! But I will not buy another car that needs $3500 worth of rear end work to hold up.
I really like some of the things the GT500s offer. The powertrain, solid rear, and moddability are all awesome. However, I can't get over the ugliness, the horrible interior, and the outrageous price.

There is an 07 Shelby GT500 with 7000 miles advertised in local paper for $29788. It says supercharged so its not just a Shelby GT. 500hp for under $30 grand makes the interior and exterior less ugly.

Yeah, I hear you! But I've driven my friends modded GT500 a lot. The interiors are cheap, but it "fits" me well. If lightly used it was close to the same price as the '10 Camaro....that will be tough!!

I don't want to get too far from the purpose of this thread. I'd like to see some real proof that this car can handle some abuse. I drive over an hour to our local dragstrip. I hate wondering everytime I launch if I'm going to bust the 4.10's in the 10 bolt and have to scramble to find a truck and trailer to come get me.
I'd like a car that had good parts, or at least the ability to be upgraded to good parts. If I need to swap to a good LSD, fine. Better clutch? That's OK too. But if I have to spend 5 grand to put a solid rear in it.....Or a tranny that won't break.... I will have to think a lot harder than I want to about buying.

I expect an IRS that is extremely similar to the one found in the G8. Also. (a lil off topic) i think the new camaro will help drive down the price (no markups)of the GT500.

The IRS in my 07 CTS has no wheel hop...and I've beat on in plenty from a brake torque.
