Horsepower or Eyecandy

I have a 2010 Camaro 2SS, and plan on throwing some money at it around February of next year. Ill have about $10,000 to play with and have been looking around trying to find good ways to go about it.

My Camaro nut friends are telling me to go with the supercharger which is about 7k i believe and 2k into buying the gm performance package, which apparently is about 75 additional hp,(heard it was an intake, ecu upgrade and exhaust.) though i cant find anything about that online and am starting to think it doesnt exist.

On top of looking at that i have been browsing body kits and other eye candy, and came across the Bomex body kit. I personally think it looks awesome, but dont know if I should do that at the risk of being shunned from the entire Camaro community. this kit alone cost around 4600 plus bodywork and painting will put me near 10k also.

At the moment I am leaning heavily towards buying the supercharger and throwing in some tuning and some other stuff under the hood.

Advice?

Ahhh....the classic dilema.

It depends on what you want out of the car. If it were me and that was my budget? I'd do the intake/exhaust/tune and wheels/tires/suspension. That way, you can have a cool looking car with good power quickly without blowing your whole budget on one or the other. Then you can build on it from there. I myself don't care for body kits but that's just me. You can get a killer set of wheels and tires from our vendor here, BestWheeldeals.com. There's also some good suspension upgrades that aren't terribly pricey that will help that department. Look at Pedders or PFYC. They are sponsors here and will set you up right.

IMO,
Intake, exhaust(headers to tail pipes), tune, and suspension(Shocks/Springs,Swaybars, Subframe and Differential Mount Bushings, Rear trailing arms) which will also help in the looks department.

Give yourself a couple of months to get used to these mods, then depending on how far you went with the suspension upgrades start looking at new wheels.

Horsepower IS eyecandy- you always look better, out in front, pulling away.

Re: Horsepower or Eyecandy

Thanks for the advice guys. I think I will start out with the suspension, wheels, and tires first. I havent had alot of time to drive it, but i have been consistantly breaking the back tires loose just making turns at intersections without much pedal, though maybe thats just the drivers fault. Now to research and decide exactly what suspension, wheels, tires I want.

suspension is a MUST when planning on doing any power upgrades. dont put the cart before the horse.

Re: Horsepower or Eyecandy

I assume you have the G80 locking differential? Maybe the next step is stickier tires... What gears are you running?

Re: Horsepower or Eyecandy

I like to do both at the same time.... a bit of this and a bit of that.... A bit of power and a bit of cosmetic....
