Z28 Suspension Poll

I really wonder if this is really nothing more than useless mental stimulation. Sure, the Camaro's dynamics and feel can be improved - no doubt about that. But what we're talking about here is taking a two ton car and creating a real Z/28 out of it. I'm not really holding my breathe on that one, to be perfectly honest.
I mean, I see the current Camaro as sort of a Monte Carlo with a cramped interior. A fast, stylish, yet soft, grand touring car tuned for the middle aged men who've been buying them. Maybe we shoud just accept this Camaro for what it is, and not have any unrealistic expectations for it.

Yes and no. I don't think this car will ever be a true Z/28 in the sense of what you (or I) would want. But, I do think it can be much better than where GM is apparently taking it. First we have credible rumors about supercharged engines. Now there are credible rumors about Magnetic suspensions. This is more than mental simulation. I think GM is truly lost on what to do with this car (z28).

I know this is just a old motor trend article. But from the sounds of it, I thought the Z/28 was already finished design wise, GM just needs to decide to produce it or not. Although, nothing was specifically said about the suspension, really just the motor was talked about.
However there was talk about wieght reduction.
"The Zeta platform is good through 2016, say GM sources. Engineers will work on weight reduction and efficiency improvements, such as better aero and standard six-speed transmission, on all Zeta-based vehicles to keep the platform viable through then."

The problem with the Z/28 package as developed by GM is, that even if it gets the LSA's full 556 hp, it will outweigh the '12 GT500 by about 350 pounds. The '12 GT500, btw, is rumored to be rated at 555 hp.
The Z/28's real and more natural competitor, the '12 SVT Boss (with it's more highly tuned 5.0), will have about 100 hp less than the LSA, but the Z/28 will outweigh it by a mind numbing 600 (or so ) pounds.
I just don't know how Camaro can compete with these Mustangs one for one.
And as Gloria pointed out in another thread, an I4 Ecoboost with phenomenal fuel economy is rumored as a base motor below the V6 for Mustang. Wow, talk about choices!
