Arrow Z/28 Stripes standard or an option for 2009?

I for one would like the see the '09 Camaro Z/28 or Z28 have stripes but I wonder if they should be an option. Yes the first gen Z/28's all had stripes but maybe that's not for everyone. Ford decided that the GT500 coupe will be striped. But that's an expensive and limited production vehicle the Z/28 will be quite a bit cheaper and hopefully sell more units.
So Z/28 stripes standard, no cost option or put them in the truck and have the dealer put them on if the owner wants them?

First of all, first gen Z/28's had painted stripes. Vinyl fades in time and painted stripes will last longer. Also if the stripes are dealer installed stickers, you'd have huge inconsistancies on they end up being applied.

Second, what if the Z/28 is the high-end model and is priced closer to the GT500? Would that change your opinion on stripes?

Painted stripes FTW!! I have custom vinyl stripes on my car, and they look like crap now, only ~4 years after having them installed. BUT, I also think they should be an option, for those who WANT them, or those who want a "subtle" Z/28 .

Agreed!

Don't know how realistic it would be, but painted would be the way to go over a decal version.

Stripes may be too flashy for some, so yeah, I think it would be better off as an option also.

...........personally, I'll take mine yellow with black stripes, or, if this whole "Bumblebee" thing gets out of hand , blue with white.

I'd rather paint my own stripes. You know damned well that the car won't come with painted stripes, and I have no interest in vinyl. Plus if I paint them, I can make a more unique color combination.

Painted stripes for sure, I guess they could be optional on the Z/28. While they originally were Z/28 only on the first gen., they ended up going on the Indy pace car special edition which was not a Z/28. I'll take mine as black painted stripes on a Rallye Green 09/10 Z/28.

Before anyone goes off on wanting painted stripes, the above statement can be considered fact. Sorry, the truth sucks.

You can get a GT500 w/ or without stripes.

What about a compromise, vinyl stripes under the clear?

Yea I never thought about the stripes being painted because I know 2009 and 1969 are very different in that regard.

Personally i'd like the stripes but I think it's important for GM to give that option. Hopefully a no cost option.

Vinyl stripes under the clear coat. Great idea but I could see GM shooting that down.

Mustang painted stripes are some kinda HUGE price (I think like $600 or so) ......and don't even consider vinyl unless the car is gonna live in the garage. Looks like somebody is gonna have to establish some type of "standard" size so we can go to our local body shops unless GM is gonna give customers a better deal than Ford......
C'mon GM....help a brother out!!!

FWIW, I paid $350 to have my VINYL stripes applied. I'd spend ~$600 in a heart-beat to have painted ones applied . The vinyl sucks . You guys should see the front of my car ... after ~4 years and a bit, the stripes are looking really, really bad .

Unless my memory is lying to me, I'm fairly certain the stripes for all of the 35th Anniversary Camaro SSes were installed at the dealerships. Am I wrong?
