If this is true, I'm excited for the Camaro and people who can afford one.
If not, sure will make for an interesting discussion.

I think it'll come fairly loaded with a sticker price north of 45k. Top of the line performance models like this and the GT500 have few options. GM knows consumers are willing to spend upwards of 48k on the GT500, so i doubt they'd make their z28 available for 10g's less...especially when they know they can load it up with options and charge high 40's and still sell every single one of them for a good profit.
The GT500 is the obvious benchmark and with equal or better content and performance comes equal or greater $$$.
The stock 11.9 should be doable though .

Whoa there! Where exactly is the 'confirmation' from GM in that article?
All that article does is leverage off the recent InsideLine article in which Welburn talked about the Z/28. https://www.camaroz28.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=712130
As yet, there is no official word from GM confirming the Z/28 will make production.

Damn I got tired of waiting for this mythical unicorn and ended up getting a Cobalt SS sedan a few weeks ago. Damn you GM! Damn you to hell! This is what I was waiting for and they kept saying it was dead and not coming back and after I blow my load on a new car they give it the go ahead. I wonder how many Camaro SS buyers will cancel now or hold off for the beast? Oh well it gives me a few years to try and save up for the gigantic cost of this car which will most likely be just south of $50k.

It would be nice to see it get some of the chassis tuning wizardry that the CTS-V has received.
Many reviewers of the SS Camaro say that it handles well but could use some improvement. The CTS-V, meanwhile, is constantly praised for having a near perfect ride/handling balance.
I really don't want the Z/28 to be a nosediving, pushy handler like the GT500 was (relatively speaking) when it first came out. If the Z/28 could handle like the Track Pack Mustang GT, that would be pretty dang sweet. Especially since the original Z/28 was very much a "track pack" in its own right, and definitely a handler compared to the more run of the mill SS cars.

late 2011, which means 2012MY, correct? 45th Anniversary package? Anyone?

Well, since the SS is already out with 426 hp, and the Z/28 that has been under development (and more recently back-burnered) has the CTS-V's 556 hp LSA, I think you can do the math...
