When I can get a 5th gen Z28 for 10k then I'll get one
otherwise...for Chevy I do hope that the new Camaro is a hit. The consumer population isn't about fast cars nowadays though.
Heck the last Top Gear said it best driving the new V12 Vantage...
"...Cars like this will soon be consigned to the history books..."

I didn't think so either. Other than the fact that the used prices make them popular now.
The 5th generation does seem to be a hit, but I don't think this song will be at the top of the charts for long. Chevy has come in a bit late to a pony/muscle car market that most likely will be shrinking in the near future. I just hope that the Camaro can stick around this time.

THIS.
The 4th gen wasn't popular. It's sales peaked in 1995, and fell off after that. By the late nineties, I recall reading on this board, that there were many in GM's upper management that wanted the car DEAD. The story was that the 4th gen was lucky to have lived until 2002. Sadly, the Corvette was outselling the Firebird by then, and the very close to outselling the Camaro as well.
IMO, the reason that the 4th gens are going so well in the used market is they are still a good performance deal for the money. Due to the weight bloat of most newer performance cars, a 3,4xx lb 4th gen with a good running stock LS1 is still a factor in today's world. As well, with a plentiful market of parts (both replacement and performance), and relatively few major changes year to year, the cars should hold people's interest for some time to come.
